 A cargo container that fell from a ship washed up on the Outer Banks of North Carolina today and spilled thousands of bags of Doritos brand tortilla chips on the beach. Scavengers collected the chips, which were apparently still fresh due to their airtight packaging. It was unknown which ship had lost the cargo or to what port it was bound

You probably heard a while back I was getting rid of the server and moving to new hosting, well we're up on Dreamhost atm (2TB/mo transfer, 200GB disk space). With the MySQL being hosted elsewhere and being accessed via TCP/IP with significantly more latency, my shitty ill-fix-it-later coding on some pages has made certain parts of the site slow. Especially the forums..  The main issue was with the new post checker sidebar item. This has been temporarily moved, you'll need to hit the forum link to see new posts, which shouldn't be too much of an issue, but hey. If there are any bugs in the transition - PLEASE report them in news comments for this post. I'll be tweaking some code at random points in the next few weeks trying to get the site a bit quicker. Mostly removing my hilariously awful queries within for-loops.  FRIENDLY REMINDER TO THOSE WHO STILL HAVE MAIL / FILES ON MY OLD SERVER - GET THEM THE FUCK OFF IMMEDIATELY, THE SERVER IS GOING DOWN SOONISH.If you have troubles connecting, try the hostname 'ofah.biz'. Massachusetts drivers will be able to continue their telephone conversations underground due to a project designed to provide wireless communication to the Big Dig Tunnels by Summer 2007. The Boston Globe reports that the project has been in the works since 2001 but required the teamwork of cell phone carriers to foot the bill. Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Cingular and Sprint Nextel have agreed to come together to split the cost of the project, allowing cell phone service to be extended for both the convenience and the safety of area drivers. In a completly unrelated story, talking on cellphones while driving is supposidly dangerous. |

"A prisoner who went on the run to see his girlfriend, who he had not met for six months, turned up to discover she was four months pregnant. Gary Stephen realised partner Tracy Miller was pregnant with another man's child before he phoned police and asked to taken back to the jail. At Perth Sheriff Court, Stephen had 20 days added to his sentence." Fair enough, he did turn himself in but 20 days seems quite light for running away from jail! |
