*Sigh* Looks like I've emptied the wrong table. I'm sorry to say that all previous posts on Salmon have vanished, never to return. I must place the blame on PHPMyAdmin, if I were have typed the query manually, I would never have emptied the wrong table. I hope we can turn this into a good thing, giving the site a breath of fresh air.

IPv6 arrives on Root DNS

AFTER YEARS of waiting, Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has finally got around to adding an IPv6 nameserver address to the Internet's DNS root server system. The move will allow longer IP addresses, better security and improvements for routing and network configuration. Initially IPv6 support will be seen on Japan's (.JP) and Korea's (.KR) country codes. France will be next. IP 4 has been in use for more than 30 years and can’t cope very well with requirements for address space, mobility and security in peer-to-peer networking. Man charged after alligator found

A man has been charged with wildlife cruelty after police found an alligator in the boot of a car in Edinburgh. The 3.5ft reptile was discovered by undercover officers after it had allegedly been offered for sale in a specialist publication. One man has been charged with six offences and another who was questioned has since been freed, Lothian and Borders Police said. The alligator was said to be "probably quite traumatised" by the journey. The creature is believed to be a Spectacled Cayman alligator which can "very dangerous". It was found in a wooden box in the boot of the vehicle in a car park. Officers from the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) intervened to rescue it.
