The world's population will increase by 40 percent to 9.1 billion in 2050, but virtually all the growth will be in the developing world, especially in the 50 poorest countries, the U.N. Population Division said.

In a report Thursday, the division said the population in less developed countries is expected to swell from 5.3 billion today to 7.8 billion in 2050. By contrast, the population of richer developed countries will remain mostly unchanged, at 1.2 billion

wow, this is getting crazy, thats gonna be alot of people when the day comes to pass.

First Invisible Galaxy Discovered in Cosmology Breakthrough

Astronomers have discovered an invisible galaxy that could be the first of many that will help unravel one of the universe's greatest mysteries.

The object appears to be made mostly of "dark matter," material of an unknown nature that can't be seen.

Theorists have long said most of the universe is made of dark matter. Its presence is required to explain the extra gravitational force that is observed to hold regular galaxies together and that also binds large clusters of galaxies.

Theorists also believe knots of dark matter were integral to the formation of the first stars and galaxies. In the early universe, dark matter condensed like water droplets on a spider web, the thinking goes. Regular matter -- mostly hydrogen gas -- was gravitationally attracted to a dark matter knot, and when the density became great enough, a star would form, marking the birth of a galaxy

more @ yahoo (and im sure other places with a more scientific explination)

I present the first picture of a dark matter galaxy! (actully, its just a picture of the color black emoticon )

Apple has upgraded the iPod mini lineup - but not added a colour screen as widely expected.

The new models sport 4GB and 6GB hdds and claim to have 18 hour battery life. They also allow charging over USB 2.0

There have also been other changes to the iPod lineup with the 40GB iPod being replaced by a new 30GB iPod photo

(I've not really done much research so this might be a bit wrong btw.)

"Apple also announced a new "iPod Camera Connector" accessory.

The optional accessory allows users to connect their digital camera directly to the iPod Photo and to import their photos into the iPod.

Imported photos are viewable on the iPod Photo and can be synced with iPhoto on the Mac (as well as various photo apps on the PC). It will be available in late March for $29."

The Apple Powerbook 100 has been chosen as the greatest gadget of all time, by US magazine Mobile PC.

The 1991 laptop was chosen because it was one of the first "lightweight" portable computers and helped define the layout of all future notebook PCs.

The magazine has compiled an all-time top 100 list of gadgets, which includes the Sony Walkman at number three and the 1956 Zenith remote control at two.

for a magazine called 'Mobile PC', it's not exactly suprising that they voted a laptop as their number 1 gadget. :/

anyway, basically posting this news so I can post this quote from the BBC's comments.

What about the Soda Stream. This gadget changed my pre-teen life. Lap tops may enable you to "think different, but you cant use them to "get busy with the fizzy"
