Many have compared it's "sexy curvaceous" look with that of the famous George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine. Hopefully it won't run quite as warm. An awful looking redesign of the controller completes the look, although the console does support upto 7 of the wireless bluetooth boomerangs. Silly specs:CPU Cell Processor running at 3.2Ghz with 7 special purpose 3.2Ghz processors, capable of 218 gigaflops of performance Backward compatible GPU RSX at 550MHz 1.8 teraflop floating point performance 256Mb XDR main RAM at 3.2 GHz 256Mb of GDDR VRAM at 700Mhz Memory Stick Duo, SD, compact flash memory slots Detachable 2.5 inch hard drive Support for seven Bluetooth controllers Six USB slots for peripherals Supports Blu-ray DVD format System Floating Point Performance of 2 teraflops Communication Ethernet, Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth Output in HDTV resolution up to 1080p as standard The graphics are nVidia based, while the 360 has ATi-inside, meaning the console war can also attract the pc-based ATi/nVidia fanboys - hooray! Nintendo have a lot of hard work to do. |

It took very little time before techies added the kinds of functions to the PSP that Sony did not include -- and may never have intended. One man needed only 24 hours to get a working client for Internet Relay Chat, or IRC, an older messaging platform. Other "hacks" include a way to transfer TV shows recorded by the TiVo digital video recorder to the PSP; a program for reading ebooks, and a viewer for comics downloaded from the Internet. Much of the new PSP functionality comes from using the Web browser built into the racing game "Wipeout Pure," which was meant to go to a Sony site. By changing some of the PSP's network settings, the browser can be pointed to an Internet portal. A number of people have already set up such portals, formatted to fit in the PSP's screen and offering links and a place to enter Web addresses. The technology blog Engadget has rounded up a number of those links. Sony Computer Entertainment of America, the Japanese conglomerate's U.S. gaming unit, did not respond to requests for comment There's some speculation that sony left loopholes on purpose, and tbh i wouldn't be at all surprised if its true. |

Sony has unveiled a new version of its PlayStation 2 game console that combines a hard disk, DVD recorder and TV tuner into one box. The additions turn the dedicated games machine into a more versatile device that could be used to play music as well as record and replay films TV programmes. The machine, called the PSX, is seen as a crossover device that Sony hopes will unite game players and users of its other consumer electronics. |
